The pre-school keiki of Pūnana Leo are not so small when it comes to doing their share of mālama ‘aina. Mahalo to Kumu Alakaʻi Kamaluokalani Almodova for bringing her class to kokua Mālama Hulē‘ia on Friday, November 22. In Hawaiian language, she briefly explained the history the Hulē‘ia watershed and our responsibility for caring for it.
Then the kids put on their gloves and marched into the field for hands-on mālama ‘aina. They picked up a lot of the loose mangrove sticks, filling 4 trash cans and 3 garden carts with branches and roots.
Afterwards they sang a song, gave hugs to ‘Anakala Steve and had lunch in the Niumalu Park pavillion.
Mahalo to all the keiku and kumu of Pūnana Leo.
