Hulē‘ia Cleanup with the Rotary Club of Kaua’i

Next Saturday, 4/27/13, from 8 AM to 12 Noon, volunteers from the Rotary Club of Kaua‘i will be cleaning up trash from the estuary of the Hulē‘ia River. They will also help Kaiola Canoe Club and Mālama Hulē‘ia by hauling away all the trash collected at the mangrove eradication site, including all the junked canoes and surf skis left under the ironwoods. A double hull canoe will be used to remove trash from the estuary banks. More helpers are needed, especially paddlers. If you can, put on your water shoes or tabis and lend a hand.

The following pictures show what may be hauled away from the area next to the Kaiola hale. Only the whole brown veneer canoe shown in pictures 1a & 1b will be saved for the Na Opio program. If anyone wants any of the other junk, they must remove it and store it elsewhere before Saturday morning.
